Hello, I'm Olivia
A project manager. A parent. An expat based in New York, United States.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn’t part of the master plan. As with many expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.
The initial months were overwhelming — new processes, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complicated than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, ambiguity, and plenty of learning on the go. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, met other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Beacon Wren Harbor
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to close that gap by offering practical advice grounded in real life in United States.
What This Site Represents (And Excludes)
This site IS:
- Hands-on insights from life in United States
- Centered on family routines and ordinary experiences
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Authority on tourism
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
What’s Next
Our stay in United States goes on, and so does our learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue to record what we find.
If you have questions about family life in New York or anywhere in United States, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Olivia
